ECU and Coil Pack: Bogus 2 Mini Project

Clever Management

The Canems ECU kit is tailored specifically for our build and comes with a custom wiring harness. Most wires to the right of the image have been left without connectors, allowing us to push the loom through a modest hole in the bulkhead easily. On the left, you’ll find connectors for the four injector controllers, crank sensor, throttle sensor, and water temperature sensor.

Versatile ECU Mounting

The ECU is housed in a robust waterproof box, enabling versatile mounting options anywhere on the vehicle. This advanced system supports up to 8-cylinder fuel injection and features ‘wasted spark’ ignition control, two 3D ignition timing maps, and two 3D fuel injection maps. Dual Water Temperature Sensors

For this build, we required two water temperature sensors: one for the DigiDash 2 Lite and one for the ECU. To streamline installation, we utilised the internal heater water take-off, which was originally going to be blanked off. With the help of a blanking plate template, Mini Sport quickly designed and created an adapter to meet this need.

Custom Coil Pack Mounting

We selected a standard MPi Mini coil pack for this build. Due to the throttle linkage design, using the standard MPi coil pack mounting bracket—typically affixed to the front of the block—wasn’t feasible. Instead, we crafted a custom aluminium plate to securely mount the coil pack on top of the clutch housing.
